Hotel and Travel Information

The workshop site is the Pocono Manor Inn, located in the Poconos, Just about a 90 minutes drive away from New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. For more information on Pocono Manor Inn see hotel facilities .

For those that are living within a 100 mile radius of the Poconos, driving might be the best way to get to the Pocono Manor. For those living in the US taking a regional flight to either the Allentown, PA, or Scranton, PA airports is the best choice. Both airports are within a 30 minute drive from the Pocono Manor (either rent a car, or take a limo). For attendees coming from overseas, the best choices are the Newark and Philadelphia international airports. From JFK international airport it will take longer to drive to Pocono Manor. For all of these three international airports it is advisable to rent a car and drive to the Pocono Manor. There might be a limited number of flights from any of these airports to either Allentown, PA or Scranton, PA.

AIRLINE INFORMATION

In addition to the airports at the major cities like New York, Newark, and Philadelphia , there are two "international" airports that are reasonably close to the Pocono Manor, Lehigh Valley International and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport . Of the two, Lehigh Valley seems to have the largest number of international flights originating from major cities such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and Zurich.

Local Ground Transportation

There are two ground transportation companies that service both airports - Pocono Limousine and Airport Limousine. Travel time is about 45 minutes from either airport to Pocono Manor.

Pocono Limousine (800) 537-4667 or (717) 839-2111: Costs - sedan (3 passengers) $69 each way; limousine (6 passengers) $121 each way or $104 if booked for round trip; van (10 passengers) $144 each way. Cost includes a 15% gratuity. Suggest making reservations at least one week in advance. You can use a credit card to make the reservation. Also, if you tell the limousine service what group you are with and when you will be arriving, they will try and group you together with others going to the Pocono Manor.
Airport Limousine (800) 746-2650 or (717) 883-0845: Costs - van (5 passengers) from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport $55 for one way, and $90 from Lehigh Valley International Airport for one way. The prices do not include a gratuity. Also, if you tell the limousine service what group you are with and when you will be arriving, they will try and group you together with others going to the Pocono Manor.

Be advised that the legal speed limit in New Jersey is 55 mph. Some parts in Pennsylvania have a 65 mph speed limit. Route 80 is known for its many speed traps so speed at your own risk.
Also toll booths workers appreciate if you pay with small bills.

DIRECTIONS FROM JFK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
From the airport terminal (or rental terminal) follow signs to Belt Parkway (Belt Pkwy), at some point there will be signs for Belt Pkwy West, Follow Belt Parkway West to exit 3, Take Exit 3 (Verrazano Bridge to New Jersey), Go over the bridge (either upper or lower level), Pay toll ($7.00, pick a lane that says CASH), stay left after the toll booths , take 278 West (New Jersey), follow 278 West (you will see signs that say Goethals bridge), there is no toll in this direction, after the bridge stay in the left lane, take New Jersey Turnpike (Highway 95), this is a toll road, at the toll booth take your ticket, after toll booth stay left, take Turnpike North (95 North), turnpike splits in car and car/truck lane (you can take either one), take exit 14 (Newark Airport), pay toll (approx $1), Take Highway 78 West (stay in local lane), after approx 10 miles this highway splits and the local lane becomes Route 24 West, Go all the way until you see the exit for Route 287 North. The sign reads 287 North (80 Boonton) This exit follows immediately after exit 1A. Make sure to be in the right hand lane, in order not to miss this exit. Stay on 287 North for about 3 miles and look for signs to route 80. You need to take route 80 West, which is exit 41B. Note that the 2 right hand lanes just before this exit are for route 80 East, which will take you back to New York. Take route 80 West towards the Delaware Water Gap. This takes a while (40 minutes). There is a toll to cross the Delaware Water Gap bridge ($1.00). Use the right lanes, because at these booths they will take bills and give change. After the bridge it is about 20 miles to route 380 West. Once on route 380 West, take the first exit (exit 8). Immediately after the exit make a right onto route 940 East. After approx 1/2 mile take the first exit, and make a right. If you missed this exit and stayed on 940 you will see a Citgo gas station, which means that you have gone too far. At this points there a signs to the Manor, and there is a big entrance gate on your right hand side. First you will see the Pocono Manor Golf club, pass this and you will see the hotel. DIRECTIONS FROM NEWARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Follow signs for route 78, you need to take route 78 west. Take Highway 78 West (stay in local lane), after approx 10 miles this highway splits and the local lane becomes Route 24 West, Go all the way until you see the exit for Route 287 North. The sign reads 287 North (80 Boonton) This exit follows immediately after exit 1A. Make sure to be in the right hand lane, in order not to miss this exit. Stay on 287 North for about 3 miles and look for signs to route 80. You need to take route 80 West, which is exit 41B. Via George Washington Bridge Interstate 80 to Delaware Water Gap Bridge Continue 80 West to 380 West. Once on route 380 West, take the first exit (exit 8). FROM PHILADELPHIA AND SOUTHEASTERN PA AND SOUTH JERSEY
Northeastern Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Interchange East on Interstate 80 to 380 West. Once on route 380 West, take the first exit (exit 8). Immediately after the exit make a right onto route 940 East. After approx 1/2 mile take the first exit, and make a right. Pennsylvania Turnpike to Harrisburg, PA, interstate 81 North to Hazleton, PA, 80 East to 380 West. Once on route 380 West, take the first exit (exit 8). Interstate 95 to 695 (Baltimore Beltway) 695 West to ROute 83 (Interstate) North toward Harrisburg Interstate 83 to Interstate 91 North Interstate 81 to Interstate 80 East Interstate 80 East to 380 West. Once on route 380 West, take the first exit (exit 8). Immediately after the exit make a right onto route 940 East. After approx 1/2 mile take the first exit, and make a right. Binghamton, NY, then Interstate 81 South to Scranton, PA, Route 380 East to Pocono Exit, Head east on 940. After approx 1/2 mile take the first exit, and make a right.
