The future holds fruit - {mAc}Chaos @ 6:38 PM EST

I know its been a long stretch lately, but I've been working very hard, and the site is a secondary priority (Would you rather have me work on the maps or work on the site? :P) I should have some things to download very soon, so just hold on tight. ;D

Another update - {mAc}Chaos @ 9:51 PM EST

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I'm working on a new map to release here, and also the polls are being switched around. The new map should be up today to the end of the week, so stay tuned! =]

Results of previous poll:

What did you think of patch 1.08?

Finally! Its about damn time! - 21%

Its gay! Too many bugs! - 21%

ITS THE BEST! - 32%

Disappointed - 9%

Terran Craft! - 8%

The Protoss got screwed! - 9%

Well, its seems this patch got more disapproval than approval. Only 32% were happy with it, and the rest were disgruntled postal workers. =P

I myself fall into the disappointed or too many bugs category. Luckily 1.09 is on the way.

With the update of the forums, I arranged the newest poll. First, go take a peek at the forums, then come back and say what you thought about it.

Newest Poll:

What do you think of the new forums?

Oh yeah, make sure to post there! =] We need supporters! =D

BUGTASTIC! - {mAc}Chaos @ 2:17 PM EST

The good ol' folk at SCL have compiled a list of known 1.08 bugs. Here is the list.

1. Sunken Crash Bug - confirmed

This bug occurs when you damage a creep colony to under 100hp while it is morphing into a sunken colony.
2. No Damage Firebat Bug

Sometimes, firebats inside bunkers don't cause damage to enemy units. "I've seen this bug myself with a zergling. My firebats inside a bunker were attacking it while it was attacking my command center." - Ruaquick1
3. Wrong Replay Bug - confirmed

The replay does not accurately show exactly what happens in the game. - Ruaquick1
4. No Damage Ghost Bug

Like the Firebat bug, Ghosts occasionally do not cause damage to enemy units while inside bunkers. - Punk3100
5. TvB Ally Bug

The Top vs Bottom does not always start correctly. "About 3 of the games I played didnt turn out right. I was on the "home team" but was allied to everyone in the game." - Punk3100
6. Cloaked Units Replay Bug

During replays, even when "Show Whole Map" is activated, permenantly cloaked units will only be visible in the minimap unil they are detected by a unit. After this detection, they remain visible as they should be from the beginning. Also, Map Revealers are visible in the minimap. - Insane
7. Zero HP Sunken Bug - confirmed

This bug is a result of the Sunken Crash Bug. If you begin to morph a creep colony into a sunken at exactly 100hp, the sunken, when completed, will have and will stay at 0 hp. A screenshot can be found here. - Klaus Brezina
8. Victory Background Screen Bug - confirmed

A victory with any race will always result in a Zerg victory background score screen. - Carlos Loboguerrero
9. Host Leaves Replay Bug

In a replay, whenever anybody leaves the game, it will read "[host name] has left the game." no matter who it is. Also, the player names are often mixed up when it displays the text of who is defeated, who has left the game, etc. - bRoOkLyN..!!
10. Observer Over Turret Bug

If a Terran missile turret is constructed with a Protoss Observer directly on top of it, the turret will not function against enemy air units. This bug was originally in Patch 1.07, but was not fixed with this new patch.
11. Non-Attacking Turret Bug - confirmed

This happens when a unit with a bigger range than a missile turret [such as a Guardian] attacks the turret. The turret won't attack Overlords in range. People have flamed me on how this bug was originally in Patch 1.07, but it's still a bug, so it's here. - Jay Dub.
12. Replay Overwrite Bug - confirmed

If you save a replay with an already existing name, it will overwrite the file, but there will be bugs. Starcraft will shut down after loading the replay, not necessarily instantly. Test this bug out yourself by running this replay file. - M@calex
13. Never Time Out Bug - confirmed

While this isn't native to Starcraft 1.08, it's been a persistant bug throughout many Blizzard games communicating through UDP [since Diablo]. When the game's UDP receiving thread encounters an error in recvfrom, it terminates instantly. Once this occurs, you cannot drop the affected players from the game until they manually close their Starcraft instances; they are still sending outbound data, but not receiving anything. Timeout never occurs, so you are unable to drop them from the game. This only affects the Windows 2000 winsock; older versions of Windows do not return an error code under these conditions [port unreachable]. Blizzard has known about this for some time, yet they have not patched it. It is patchable. - Skywing
14. Siege Tank Beacon Bug - confirmed

Putting a Siege Tank into seige mode on top of any beacon [Zerg, Terran, or Protoss] will instantly detonate the tank. - Zalamander 2.6
15. Replay Structure Wireframe Bug - confirmed

The wireframes of the Zerg Spire and the Terran Starport in replays are cut off at the top, although only slightly for the Starport. - gawon Kim
16. Valkyrie Sprite Bug - confirmed

This bug is caused by having too many sprites on screen at one time. Due to the large number of sprites taken up by Valkyries and their HALO missiles, the Valks may not attack. Missile Turrets also occassionally suffer from this bug. This bug will mostly likely not be fixed, as it will require a lot of changes in the graphics programming and system requirements to accommodate the bug. But what is the point of having super-Valkyries now if we can't use them? These are the bugs discovered so far. Bugs that we have tested are marked with "confirmed". This list will be updated as newly bugs are discovered. Blizzard has offered this statement about the bugs:

Blizzard Entertainment is aware of a bug released in the 1.08 patch that causes a crash when morphing a damaged creep colony into a sunken colony. We are in the process of fixing that error and a few others and we shall have another version

1.08 is OUT & NEW POLL! - {mAc}Chaos @ 2:59 PM EST

After about a year and a half of waiting, 1.08 is out -- filled with bugs! >=/ Go to Blizzard to get it, it's the best (seriously)! Even though its buggy its a new patch, it has a replay option, and a gateway selector. Best of all, the campaigns work still.

I am thankful for its release, and I am not worried, as 1.08b should be out 'soon'.

There are many known bugs for it, about 16 so far. What do you think of it as of now? I like to call it "Terran Craft"! =P

***LIST OF CHANGES***

* Adds support for a new template "Top vs Bottom". This template functions like Melee, with the exception that players in each half are automatically allied and share vision at game start, thus removing the "who am I allied with" question (and reducing the amount of clicking done after the game starts). The game creator can move players around between the two sides as needed to assign teams properly. Note that Top vs Bottom only works for games with two sides - if you want to play 2x2x2 games, you will still need to use Melee.

* Adds support for Game Recording. When a game is over, there will be a new button "Save Replay" in the victory/defeat screen. If you save a replay, you can watch it at a future date. Replays are saved to the "replay" folder inside your Maps folder. Create a game and pick your replay from the "replay" folder. A replay is always passworded. Up to 7 other people can your your replay game to watch it with you; chat is from the people currently connected to the replay game. Replay files can be transferred to other people automatically (if someone joins your replay game, they get your replay transferred to them via the automatic map download facility), or you can copy your replay files (replays end in .REP) from your "replay" folder to a desired destination manually. See www.blizzard.comstarcraftreplay for more information.

* Adds support for gateway selection. You can now specify which Battle.net cluster to connect to. In normal cases, you will do nothing, and you will be sent to the "closest" Battle.net cluster. If you wish to override the automatic selection, you can pick a cluster manually.

* Save Game clarification - the save game window now shows:

Saving Multiplayer Game
Save Game Name: XXX
in order to avoid the "Saving Starcraft Virus 1.0 to Hard Disk" joke.

* If you are really clever, you can crush tanks by landing buildings on them. This is the unexpected consequence to fixing a cheeze that allowed players to have siege tanks underneath barracks.

* Better proxy support
* Clearer battle.net messages.
* Updated "Connecting to fastest server" messages to be clearer.
* Ladders maps updated.
* Ladder cheating fix - Ladder map alteration fix (Japanese version, too!)
* Fixed various language translation problems.

Forums! - {mAc}Chaos @ 3:50 PM EST

After a long while of pain and work, I've finally gotten up the TFC forums! What's a forumer campaign without forums? =P Expect new forums and more layout changes as time goes on. But for now, lets post! =)

Another Update & a Lamer... - {mAc}Chaos @ 3:39 PM EST

I have just finished the beginning drafts of the Infoceptor Cast page! As I check and write up the heroes, more will be added.

You can find the Character Section, here.

I was checking over the polls earlier today, and I am quite dismayed as one of my friends thought it would be funny if he went and added in 9 "Terrible" votes. I now deem that null and void. I will not name any names... *coughscarletcoughspider* :P

Added a couple things... - {mAc}Chaos @ 3:25 PM EST

Joining the site today is a weekly poll I just got working, and a hit counter! =P Also, I tweaked many settings here and there, to ensure the site runs to its fullest. I think the character/factions section will be updated next. A second chapter to my story, "Xanieth - Assault at Lilat" has been released, entitling a young Xanieth as he ventures into a hellish battleground... If you don't remember the first chapter, you can get a recap here.

The Site Launches! - {mAc}Chaos @ 11:30 PM EST

I managed to get this blasted site up after two hours of troubleshooting. Whew =) I expect that the Character and Story sections will receive the first updates, and the rest will follow. Also expect two new sections, dedicated to mapmaking. One of them will include MOTM/MOTW 's I shall be making. ;)
