DBZ is basically your everyday japanese save the world concept.  But that's just the thing, DBZ isn't and everyday save the world thing, it is the best show ever!  In this show the main characters are Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo.  Goku (Kakarott is his Saiyan name)  is a nice Saiyan and sometimes his kindness is taken advantage of.  Now when I say Saiyan, it is an alien race from Planet Vegeta.  Saiyans look like humans, except they are born with tails and are extremely strong.  These tails have the ability to turn that person into Oozuro; giant monkeys with double the power that only transform by the light of a full moon.  It doesn't happen much because they cut their tails off.  Goku's wife is named Chi Chi who is a human but still pretty strong.  Gohan is Goku's son, he is half Saiyan because Goku + Chi Chi (Saiyan + Human).  He is also extremely strong.  He later marries Videl that he met in high school.  Vegeta is the prince of all Saiyans.  His father was the king of Planet Vegeta.  He calls Goku by his Saiyan name and always tries to be better than him.  He is generally angry and grumpy.  He marries Bulma, a lady that was one of the first characters on the show.  They have a son named Trunks.  Planet Vegeta was destroyed by Frieza and his army.  Only a few survivors made it; Goku, Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa.  Goku was sent to destroy Earth but bumped his head and lost all data of his mission.  The episodes continue as Goku's older and married and still saves the Earth.
