RATNA PRAKASH

Ratna Prakash..... Has one more paper to pass before he too can join embrace of mother APSEB. This happens to be the 3rd year Thermal Prime Movers paper. He still resides in the hostels at AU.

BALA

Bala........... Jumping rivers and mountains in attempts to erect transmission lines across the tribal areas of Visakhapatnam and Vijaynagaram districts. He is also in APSEB. His job consists of taking teams of laborers and all equipment needed to lay down these transmission lines to rural areas, setting up camps and implementing the plans. He says he like it. He is also incharge of all the vehicles in the APSEB office in Vizag. He is, contrary to rumors, not married. He has had a tough time with his mother getting treated for cancer. He feels that all AU people should try to meet more often and says he has read the souvenir 16 times or was it 26 times? Anyway some such big number. Also, during recent APSEB training in Hyderabad, he stayed there for 42 days and saw 21 movies. Our man hasn't lost his enthu for movies at all. He is also relatively friendless after his best friend Srinu moved to Malaysia to be with his dad, our Dr. Parvathisam. The good (non medical) Dr. has quit AU and will be teaching in Malaysia for a long time. Apparently AU wanted a huge percentage of his salary if remained an employee of AU while working in Malaysia, so he took the easy way out and quit. For those who are interested, Srinu got married in the 2nd week of December. Bala is the proud uncle of 5 nephews and nieces and also one little pom puppy by name of Tipsy.

MURLIDHAR

Murlidhar ........ Is hatching away a plan to emigrate to New Zealand. Currently working in some company in Hyderabad (the name was mentioned to me but I forget now), he is quite sick of India and wants to leave the country. He has applied for emigration to Australia, Canada and New Zealand. I believe one needs 26 "points" to be eligible to emigrate to the land of kiwis. Our man's BE degree counts for 22 points, his work experience for 2 more. Apparently being married means an additional 2 points, so he is now on the look out for ways and means to get a false marriage certificate. We wish him all the best.

JAYANTA

Jayanta.............. Last leg at IIM-B and definitely not married to Abhilasha Sood.

UNCLE

Uncle................ Working as a sales something or the other in Hyderabad. Rather sketchy on details.

SHARMA

Sharma.............. Still at Heavy Water Plant, Manuguru and looking for ways to get out. He has become engaged to a young lady (MA pass) by name of Sridevi. A far off relative, her people are in Sambhalpur, Orissa prompting a great deal of leg pulling from Bala and Pals about his low profile in Vizag since his engagement in August, '96. Wedding bells ring on May 27th, '97. Wish him all the best. Incidentally his sister, Sita is engaged to a young man who works with her.

SUDHAKAR

Sudhakar .......... Slogging away in Surendranagar. His thread ceremony (upanayanam) is on Feb. 19th. Word has it that he feels lonely in the land of gujjus. He also gets upset that if he get a week's leave, it takes 3 days for him to get to Vizag and 3 days to go back leaving one day with his family. He is waiting for 2 way flying privileges so that he can visit his people more often. He is reportedly cynical about his marriage saying that "emi undi raa..maa amma naana evarino choostaru..naaku dorkina okka rojulo pelli chesukuni vellutanu". My sympathies go out to the tortured soul. RIP. Actually, he was nice enough to call me up and say hi. I did not recognize his voice on the telephone (first time ever I'd spoken to him on the invention of Alex Graham Bell) and he sounded so North Indian I was confused. Well..he was missed at our gatherings in Vizag. According to Pals, he has lost a lot of weight while he has grown a lot of bushy hair on his head ("akkada alathi cutting emo" or the gujjus don't believe in barbers).

Paluri........ Dedicated to the cause of Coromandel Fertilizers, he spends long tiring hours supervising projects. Talking about his work, a far off look came into his eyes and he said, "jeevitham ante inthe naa". I nodded my head. He says he will not change jobs, might get married in '98 and has a very good database of all our classmates. He wishes everyone the best.

SriNagesh........ doing very well for himself all around the globe. His birthday was the 6th and he celebrated it by calling all family and friends to dinner at Daspalla. We all made it except for Ramesh and Nagi Reddy. He is also the proud uncle of Sai Sri Ramya Geetika (a very recent addition to the family).

RAAJ KUMAR

Raaj Kumar..... If you are wondering why he is included, its because no one seems in USA seems to know where he is at. In fact neither his mother nor sister know his address except that he is in USA. His dad has the address and even after calling three times, I could not get it from him. Raaj is the uncle of Radhika Rupa Roslyn (I might have made a mistake in the name, forgive me). The one interesting converation I had with His sister, she told me "tanu ochhi doctar ammanu peelli chesukoni vellu tada ata". Alright....now that I know Raaj is "dating" where does the "doctar amma" come into the picture?
