PAINTING THE CITY GREEN

I think it looks great in black and white too! The Vizag skyline from behind College of Engineering, AU. That's Kailasa hill in the background.

Latest movie music A. R. Rehman is EVERYWHERE...Prema Desam, Iddaru, etc., etc.. I also marveled at the changes...my home telephone with call waiting, call forwarding and conference calling and std locking all available at no extra cost and working efficiently on the electronic exchange and telephone bills that have as much detail as Bell Atlantic does/alphanumeric pagers (BUY MIXIE..GET PAGER FREE!! Buy washing machine...Pager free)/cellular phones (NOKIA...the best in India...people riding mopeds have them and *I* don't ;)))/email (Rs. 15 to send email, Rs. 10 to get a print out of the reply)/Kit Kats/Wrigley chewing gum/Ruffles potato chips/ Charlie perfume/Pantene shampoo/Mercedes Benz - I spied these grey colored beauties near Siripuram (Made in Indiia..Made in Indiia..like alisha chinai's song)/Ford opels/Cielo cars/ Tata Sumo vans/Tata estate ford like trucks/KFC/pizzas (with curry on top)- try Hot Breads in the VUDA complex in Siripuram for some neat stuff/ATM machines (Mr. Rao cannot get money from his bank over the weekend, but at HongKong and Shanghai Bank's ATM you can get money ALL the time)/VISA and Mastercard everywhere...at Bommanas/Chandanas/Bombay Gas Light Stores and Jain Audio..its all permeating (I ran up $600 worth of credit card bills in my little city of Visakhapatnam) and beauty contests...its endless. Because of Pongal/Sankranti, the stores were as crowded as Macy's in NY at Xmas time. Makes me wonder..the roads are bad and I felt like I was eating dust everytime I went out..the traffic was VERY VERY scary after the relative orderliness here. Every where you look, there is a highrise..wonder what they'll do for water 10 years down the road when the water table runs out..recycle urine maybe. A lot of new shops on the Daba Gardens side...new Vimal showrooms, Arrow shirts, Weekender, you name it. Actually there are a lot of new shops everywhere. A three tier city bus service (like in Hyderabad)..metroliner service with video, express and regular service. The weather was nice..actually it was cold and there were heavy unseasonal rains. Kailasa giri has been developed into a big several kilometer park and there is a huge lighted symbol of the Vishnu Chakra looking down on the city very clearly visible from the NH5. With DSP (???) Naik moving out of town, the auto rikshaw drivers are up to their old tricks of bargaining. The city sprawls larger than ever.
